Math Checker

To review math expressions in the Math Checker:

1. Open the Accessibility/Usability panel.
2. Select Math Checker.
   
3. Hover on each expression to scroll it into view in the editor.
4. Review any issues flagged for each expression.

To add or update an expression's alt text with custom alt text:

1. Open the Accessibility/Usability panel.
2. Select Math Checker.
   
3. Place your cursor within the desired equation's alt text input field.
4. Delete the current alt text (if applicable).
5. Type your alt text into the input field.
6. Click Update Alt Text.

To update an expression's alt text with suggested alt text:

1. Review suggested alt text.
2. Click Use Suggested.
3. Make any adjustments in the alt text input field as needed.

To remove an expression from the editor:

1. Open the Accessibility/Usability panel.
2. Select Math Checker.
   
3. Hover on each expression to scroll it into view in the editor.
4. Click Remove Expression.

Please consider the following when using the Math Checker to write alt text for math expressions:

• By default, expressions written with LaTeX in the Canvas Equation Editor will use LaTeX for their alt text. LaTeX is not necessarily clear when read by screen readers. Be sure to review your expressions' alt text for readability.
• The Math Checker uses Nemeth MathSpeak to suggest alt text, but this is just one way of writing math expressions in readable language. Depending on your field, another style of writing out math expressions may be more appropriate.

The Math Checker is a new feature of DesignPLUS Next Generation.
