Read Time

To add a new read time stamp:

1. Place your cursor in the editor where you want the Read Time stamp to go.
2. Open the Add tab.
3. Select Read Time.
   
   
4. In the Content panel, select a Grade level or manually enter the WPM.
5. Select the Update button.

To change the reading level on which the word-per-minute count is based:

1. Place your cursor in a Read Time stamp.
2. Make sure you are in the Edit Current Element tab.
3. Choose the Read Time option as the active tool.
   
4. Select a new grade level.
   
   
   
5. Select the Update button.
   

To manually change the word-per-minute count:

1. Place your cursor in a Read Time stamp.
2. Make sure you are in the Edit Current Element tab.
3. Choose the Read Time option as the active tool.
   
4. Choose a new Type your desired value in the WPM input
   
   
   
5. Select the Update button.
   

To remove the Read Time stamp from your page:

1. Place your cursor in a Read Time stamp.
2. Make sure you are in the Edit Current Element tab.
3. Choose the Read Time option as the active tool.
   
4. Click  Remove All button.

Please consider the following when choosing to use Read Time:

• The grade levels reflect average standard-based word-per-minute counts, however they do not reflect specific abilities.
• The inclusion and location of the Read Time stamp is important to your users as they plan and manage their online study/browsing time, therefore you may choose to designate a consistent spot for it (e.g., at the top of the page, at the bottom etc.) to create predictability.
• Utilizing Read Time estimates will also allow you to evaluate the amount of content present on a given page, therefore supporting your design in alignment to best instructional practices (i.e., not exceeding a certain length of time for online reading).
